Birštonas sports center
Currently, 250 athletes are engaged in the Birštonas sports center.
Beginning in 1977 Laima Blekaitienė was appointed the first director of Žalgiris Society of Children and Youth Sports (Mokyklos str. 1). , Povilas Juozaitis) athletes. 1996 In 2002 the Birštonas Sports Club was established in place of the Sports School and the Sports Committee (dir. Vytautas Račkauskas). In 1998 it was reorganized into Birštonas City Sports Center, Saulius Smailys was appointed as the director. The center is located on the premises of the Olympic Rowing Base (Birutės St. 19). In its first year the Center had 10 groups (athletics, rowing, football, basketball, athletic gymnastics, volleyball), 9 coaches and 150 athletes. After 2 years the Center was moved to the premises of Birštonas Stadium (Kęstučio Str. 29), in 2001 it was moved to Jaunimo Str. 3 premises and shortened name of the establishment to Birštonas Sports Center.
